1973-1977
Expert Crane Owner Jim Doty begins career at Euclid Crane Company gaining experience as a machinist and plant assembler, lastly moving into field crane service.
August 1, 1977
After completing the first service order for Manchester Steel, Jim Doty founds Expert Crane and begins the 40-year history of overhead crane manufacturing and offers “Service with Integrity.”

1983
Expert Crane purchases the Cleveland Beacon product line, which was the company’s first step into the manufacturing of overhead cranes.
1984
Expert Crane partners with R&M as a Master Overhead Crane Distributor, and they expand into a larger facility. 1984
The Beacon product line was sold, and Expert

1989
The Beacon product line was sold, and Expert Crane restructured their business plan around overhead crane service.
1991
Expert Crane purchases Southside Service.
June 1994
The Excel “DX” overhead crane line is released, offering a custom engineered overhead crane with minimal downtime and readily available parts at a fraction of the maintenance cost of their competition.
Expert Crane expands into their Cleveland Headquarters and purchases Akron Crane and Conveyor


1999
Expert Crane purchased Overhead Crane and Service Corp.
2002
Expert Crane releases the intelligent tandem control panel product which offers additional operational safety features to their overhead crane products.
2009-2012
Second generation of the Doty family celebrates their college graduation and starts their new careers at Expert Crane.
April 2014
Expert Crane expands to their current 50,000 square foot facility at 5755 Grant Avenue in Cuyahoga Heights.

2015
Expert Crane releases the TX overhead crane line, offering a solution for customers between the DX platform and packaged hoists.

2016
Expert Crane releases the MX overhead crane line, offering a single girder solution following the heavyduty ideals of its predecessors.

Expert Crane starts manufacturing a “basic” and intelligent version of its overhead crane control panels.
